  About Us

About the U3A.

The University of the Third Age is a national organisation run from its offices in London by the Third Age Trust, a registered charity.  The aims of the organisation are that members, who are retired from full-time employment, should provide courses and activities for each other.

The Bristol U3A, like all other U3As, are themselves independent charities in their own right but are affiliated to the national body to whom we pay a capitation fee annually for the provision of national services like a regular newsletter, insurance, legal advice etc.

Details of how to contact the national body are on our links page.

The courses and activities we run in Bristol can be found on our Groups and Activities page.

If you would like to join us please download the form on the Join the U3A page and send it to the membership secretary, whose address is on the form, with your cheque made out to Bristol U3A.  The fee is £15 per annum for a single person and £25 for a couple. If you are a taxpayer and pay under Gift Aid we can also reclaim from HM Revenue and Customs 25% of the subscription.  To be able to do this you must pay in tax (either by deduction from interest, pensions etc or directly, and not subsequently reclaimed) at least the amount of tax we can recover - that is £3.75 for a single person and £6.25 for a couple).  If you can do this please also fill in the gift aid form when you send the membership form or later.
